Yesterday evening the UL Environmental Society met up to finish off building a new campaign piece aimed at raising awareness around water conservation. The piece is constructed using recycled bottles from the Societies UL Bottle Collector.
Based on figures from Irish Water, the average Irish person consumes approximately 150 litres of water per day. The new campaign piece illustrates this huge volume through the stacking of 75 2L water bottles.
Various design layouts were considered, and the option which was a size appropriate to be displayed in most venues on campus was decided upon. The bottles were stuck to one another using hot glue and affixed to a sturdy timber frame for structural support.
The piece will be displayed in various locations on campus shortly.
