Sunday morning saw a great turn out for the UL riverbank clean up. Groups on foot set out at 10am from the UL Boathouse picking up and collecting waste all along the river edge and the adjacent drains. Members of the UL Kayak Club were in the water helping collecting anything at the waters edge and deeper. Paul O’Connell, member of the UL Buildings & Estates team, collected all rubbish bags along the route using one of the B&E grounds vehicles. All of the days waste was collected at the boat house which in turn filled an entire skip. After a very productive few hours, the team gathered back at the UL Boathouse where there was plenty of tea and tasty sandwiches.
This fantastic event was coordinated by UL’s Kayak club, UL’s Environmental Committee and Team Limerick Clean Up.
